One great resource for D&D games is a website called Meetup.com which has multiple new D&D/Pathfinder groups.
"San Luis Obispo's Dungeon & Dragons Adventure League" is held at Captain Nemos play area next to the store. They run sanctioned adventures Wednesday 5:00pm and again at 7:30pm so bring your DCI card with you (unfortunately this runs during Game Theory meetings). This is a really great opportunity if you are looking for so quick D&D action you can bow in and out of and still advance a character. They have had 2 successful learn to the game sessions and their first league game starts November 5th.
Another newly formed group is "5 Cities D&D" which is a great playing opportunity which has potentially longer game sessions and isn't limited by the rules of organized play. The first game is Saturday, November 8th so it's a prefect time to see what 5 edition is all about during the weekend.
"VAFB D20 Tabletop roleplaying" is a bit of a drive but if Pathfinder is your game they have recently started a campaign, by the looks of things it's going well, but they currently don't have a scheduled for the next meeting.
I Also hear there are D&D games being run at Leisure Time Games in Santa Maria Mall. but you'll have to investigate that on your own.
Good luck and may your wild magic roles not cast fireball on your head!
